Ethiopia Guji Hambela
Our Ethiopian Guji comes from the Hambela washing station in the Guji zone, located in southwest Ethiopia, close enough to Yirgacheffe to share some delicious terroir characteristics, such as florals, sweet orange, lime and lemon. This lot brings a big juicy body and sweet berry to create a full, easy to drink cup.
The Guji region is named for one of the tribes of the Oromo and is one of the administrative zones of the Oromia region. The zone was created in 2002 when the uplands of Borena zone were split to create it. The Guji region enjoys ideal coffee growing conditions. Its volcanic soil is bursting with nutrients, creating deep red and brown top-layer of soil. The regions' high altitude, bi-modal rainfall pattern and dry weather allow for the cherries to develop slowly.
Flavor Notes: Jasmine, Lime, Tangerine, Black Tea, Cherry.
Our Ethiopia Hambela is great for a bright espresso and lively filter brew. As Espresso, we brew it at 18g in and 36g out in about 25 seconds. For pour-over we like the V60 at 21g coffee to 300g water at 201°F.
